After the Reunion Dinner, 30 Scholarships were presented to students who are members of the Regiment and the Cadet Corps.  The Scholarships are sponsored by former members and family members of the Regiment, in memory of Veterans who served in past years.  Each Student received a framed certificate, a cheque for $200 and a copy of a book entitled “Dieppe, Canada’s Darkest Day of World War II” by Hugh Brewster.  The author acknowledged contributions of information obtained from Dieppe Veterans and families by thanking them for sharing their memories.  His list includes Jayne Poolton-Tuvey, daughter of Jack Poolton and Ron Reynolds and his wife Margaret.  Both Jack Poolton and Ron Reynolds were Veterans of the Battle.  The book cover features a Royal Regiment Cap Badge in recognition of the Regiment’s role in the Battle.  Dieppe was also the largest single Air Battle of the War in Europe.  The Navy participation was 237 ships and landing barges and 6 destroyers.  It is a well illustrated book, prepared especially to encourage young people to read more.
